Luckily, This Inmate Is Not Running The Asylum: Rooster ClogBurn Revises History

I wish we lived in a place more like the America of yesteryear that only exists in the brains of us Republicans. santorumdick – Ned Flanders

I don’ know about the rest of you, but I wiped some sweat from my brow and sighed with relief when this assclown didn’t quite cut  the mustard.

Santorum: Obama Has Put America On ‘The Path’ Of Executing Religious People By Decapitation

Rick Santorum continued to rail against President Obama’s so-called war against religion during a town hall in Plano, Texas Wednesday night. The former Pennsylvania senator — who has spent the last several days criticizing the government’s requirement that insurers provide contraception coverage and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal’s decision striking down Proposition 8 — accused the administration of “crushing” religion and setting the United States on the path towards executing religious people by decapitation:

SANTORUM: They are taking faith and crushing it. Why? Why? When you marginalize faith in America, when you remove the pillar of God-given rights, then what’s left is the French Revolution. What’s left is the government that gives you right, what’s left are no unalienable rights, what’s left is a government that will tell you who you are, what you’ll do and when you’ll do it. What’s left in France became the guillotine. Ladies and gentlemen, we’re a long way from that, but if we do and follow the path of President Obama and his overt hostility to faith in America, then we are headed down that road.

No, Clogburn, we aren’t.  This is apples-to-oranges, a typical maneuver among the addle-pated Republicans. The closest parallel is here:

Louis XVI ascended to the throne amidst a financial crisis; the state was nearing bankruptcy and outlays outpaced income. This was because of France’s financial obligations stemming from involvement in the Seven Years War and its participation in the American Revolutionary War.

Oh, and this too:

Necker realized that the country’s extremely regressive tax system subjected the lower classes to a heavy burden, while numerous exemptions existed for the nobility and clergy.

But there the analogy breaks. The French aristocracy ruled by divine fiat. In fact, there was a great deal of resentment because of the Church’s wealth and influence. And in fact, feudalism was abolished during said revolution.

Oh, and there was a national tithe, as well:

The National Assembly began to enact social and economic reform. Legislation sanctioned on 4 August 1789 abolished the Church’s authority to impose the tithe.

Yes, the church charged 10%, and yes, some of that was re-distributed to the poor, but the Holy Cee was famous even then for their opulence, and – well, free money is free money.

A lot of this nonsense is revised and ridiculous. We are nowhere near putting the religious in the dire straits they imagine they are in. No one is trying to ‘de-Christianize’ anything. The reality of the matter is that people are far more knowledgeable, and knowledge is nigh well instant in this day and age.

In a nutshell: old Rooster is a cock-a-doodling at a gibbous moon and claiming it’s made of green cheese.

And in the following clip, Lewis Black demolishes Santorum:

Till the next post, then.

When will the ‘moderate’ Republicans disavow the increasingly vocal, bigoted, and mysoginist theocratic right? This fanatical group is overtaking the GOP and reshaping it into something I like to call the Christian Brotherhood. Such hatred, such propaganda, such fanaticalism they spew.

I was once criticized by an Evangelical for comparing the Theocratic Right with fanatical Islam. This was long before this GOP primary season and before all the fundy, theocratic nutjobs like Santorum and Gingrich gained the spotlight with their Christian Reconstructionism agenda.

Sunlight has now exposed these fundamentalist quacks and their true intentions and convictions to many Americans who may not have known about this growing faction. The question on the table is, how does mainstream , moderate , middle of the road Americans respond to this radical, theocracy minded, constitutional revisionist sect?

I keep hoping that these new heights of insanity are born of desperation. That’s about the best way I can look at the situation.

OK…here’s something which I’m posting in prep for a follow-up comment containing a link to another page with a couple of Santorum related YouTubes:
    I’ll call it:
    The “Total Asshat Award”
[I tried BTW to find an appropriately enlarged (engorged?) version of Bill Maher's Gold plated version...to no avail; but I just might try to Gold plate "Photoshop" one of my own, for future comment linking reference.] ;)
Anyway…keep it in mind for my subsequent follow-up comment:

    OK, that established…
For Right Wing Watch’s page on some of the most annoying videos related to Santorum, and my personal choice for the preceding posted “Total Asshat Award”…
take a gander (with barf-bag in hand?) at a couple of YouTube videos of fucktard Pastor Dennis Terry…living up (Champion-style?) to that award.

Anyone who tells a woman to view her rape and subsequent pregnancy as a “gift from god” and to make the best of of a bad situation, is a fucktard and deserves scorn, riducule, and serious backlash.

At least Santorum acknowledges rape as a bad situation. Or was he saying that the pregnancy was the bad situation, and the rape was the gift? Hard to tell with this incredible dbag.

Education is the answer, and that is why these fundies want to destroy our public school system and force us to pay for privet religious schools so they can brainwash the next generation. They are a threat to everything regarding freedom as all religions are repressive and only reward the leaders at the top of their pyramid.

    KA,
Keep the posts coming. Enjoy the blog.

Btw, you should have more time for this blog as your moderating duties at AA seem to have substantially diminished with their new, uninspired, and lack of activity website. Wtf happened there?

To steal your line, till the next post then.

  10. Stardust says:

I too breathed a sigh of relieve to know that another nutcase is out of the race, however, there seems to be a steady supply of Christian Cretins who want to send us back to before the Dark Ages. The Republican Party has become a collection of lunatics, not one respectable candidate from their side in decades and it just keeps getting worse and worse for them…better and better for us, though.

Buckeyenonbeliever..we are glad to have you around and enjoy your comments. RE: your first comment in this thread regarding Islam and Christianity…they are both Abrahamic middle-eastern religion based on the same violent god of Abraham. No difference except we have laws here in the USA which protect us from the crazyass nutjobs…so far anyway.

  11. buckeyenonbeliever says:

    Hello there Stardust,

Thanks. Happy to be here with fellow reasoning beings.

Yes, we have laws to protect us from nutjobs; however they are under daily attack and in many cases outright subverted by the religious right. How else can one explain ID being taught in schools in some states, laws being introduced and passed under the guise of personhood and priests and preachers advocating for GOP candidates and smearing and attacking the President FROM THE PULPIT which is against their tax exempt status. And yet the right wing whackos continue to crap on the separation of church and state with no consequence or retribution.

Even more incredulous is that even with all of their religious theocratic agenda running roughshod over America, they have the temerity to whine that Christianity is under attack and cry there is a war on religion.

Are we truly protected with our laws even now? How much longer before America looks like Islamic theocracy’s? How much longer before we are required to attend church and are required to tithe to said church or be held in contempt of court? At the current rate, it seems sooner rather than later.

I’m not an admin anymore at the NGB, & nobody informed me of the upgrade. Oh well, as they say.
